Derek and Natalie got married at the Legacy in Jacksonville. It's a great venue to consider if you haven't decided where to get married yet. I really like shooting at venues that are designed specifically to host events like weddings. The reception area is easily large enough for couples who want to dance and still intimate enough for couples who want a low-key reception. Susan and her staff are fun and great to work with. You might even find Susan on the dance floor with you!
Thanks to Jolinda's connections, we had access to an awesome location! And we got to sample some delicious wine along the way...that's my kind of shoot!
Miranda's bridal was shot on the same freezing cold weekend that Cortney's was. Luckily I had the use of a friend's studio and a bride willing to brave the cold for a few shots on location. The shot on the steps is one of my favorite so far this season.
I don't usually do a slide show for engagement sessions, but there were just too many images I wanted to blog. I went to Waco to shoot with Andrew and Jenna at Baylor, where they met while attending school, and we had so much fun we shot for five hours. They'll be getting married in October.
This bench was really special to Andrew and Jenna. When they were just friends Andrew and Jenna hung out on this bench between classes. This was where Andrew repeatedly asked Jenna out...and where she repeatedly turned him down. It was so cool to go back to this place in their history and rewrite it with them.
The weekend we shot Cortney's bridal was really cold and windy. It was so cold her Mom kept her wrapped up in a shawl between shots. Her aunt and grandma came along and my hat is off to all of these beautiful ladies who braved the weather to be with Cortney. I so love it when friends and family show up at a bridal. Weddings are celebrations that start long before the actual ceremony does and I love getting to work in an atmosphere where everyone is happy and full of anticipation. Just don't bring them all to your engagement session!
While I do shoot other subjects, my work is mainly dedicated to documenting the beauty, emotion and sometimes chaos that is holy matrimony. There are sacred traditions we all recognize, but each wedding is as unique as the couple it binds together. Therefore my approach is to capture the day as it unfolds, with as little interference as possible. To document, and not direct. I also want us to have lots of fun in the process. Weddings should only be boring for little kids. If you like my work, please give me a call to set up an appointment. I’ll even spring for coffee. :)
